Locum Appointment for Service (LAS) Specialist Registrar in Haematology - Advert The Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a locum specialist registrar in haematology to cover maternity leave, for a period of between 6 months commencing immediately. This full-time post consists of 40 hours per week between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, with an on-call commitment 9am-1pm on alternate Saturdays (although some flexibility with the on call commitment can be accommodated if required). We are a friendly department encompassing all aspects of clinical haematology. The registrars rotate between the inpatient service and outpatients / laboratory, taking into account training and service needs. This post would suit either those seeking more experience in haematology prior to applying for higher training or those with previous training in haematology seeking to consolidate their experience prior to applying for consultant posts. Support can be provided for those seeking to sit the FRCPath examinations. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the post-holder will work closely with 7 consultants in haematology, a registrar colleague, a core-trainee SHO, 2 clinical nurse specialists, 2 advanced nurse practitioners and the wider clinical haematology team, to provide a comprehensive range of clinical and laboratory services for patients. The post will involve working through and supporting all the activities of the department including a range of malignant, autologous stem-cell transplant, red cell and thrombosis / haemostasis services. The post holder will also be part of the on-call rota. The successful candidate must possess a basic medical qualification (e.g. MBBS or equivalent) and have full registration with the GMC. Applicants should preferably be a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent. Some experience and competence in clinical haematology is expected to meet the requirements of the post but appropriate training will be given where required.
