The post holder will work within the research team to plan, implement, organise and manage concurrent joint research projects between the Royal Devon and Exeter and the University of Exeter Medical School. Organisational and collaboration skills are paramount as s/he will need to develop and nurture networks with multidisciplinary teams across the Trust, the University, the Devon Dementia Collaboration, Devon Partnership Trust (DPT) and other appropriate local and national agencies.

The post holder will be required to promote Dementia Research with patient support groups and at Research meetings so a driving licence is desirable. They will have a strong working relationship with and full support of a Principal Investigator and other members of the CRF, Clinical Research Network (CRN) and University teams. S/he will coordinate and manage dementia studies and will deliver recruitment in line with performance and monitoring objectives.

Our dementia studies have a mixture of complex commercial and non-commercial/academic studies which have a substantial genetic element. The post holder will initially be responsible for coordinating all aspects of three studies: the Deep and Frequent Phenotyping study and the Novartis Generation 1 and 2 studies. There may also be some time required on the SYmbad study.

There will be opportunities for the post holder to learn and administer dementia rating scales, some of which are semi-global rating scales involving in-depth interviewing skills and also to undertake a genetic counselling course.

The post holder will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the clinical requirements associated with research to ensure optimum delivery of clinical trials. S/he will ensure that all research procedures are conducted according to study protocols and will be accountable for the recruitment, data collection and care of research participants with a focus on providing a quality experience.
