'An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to join the Admission Avoidance Service. The post involves working within the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital supporting the Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists primarily on the Acute Care of the Elderly Unit on Wynard. You may also be required to support the therapists in the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit and the Medical Triage Unit.
The work will be varied working with the Occupational and Physiotherapists in the team. The support worker will be responsible for a delegated caseload gathering core information, undertaking initial assessments, moving and handling patients, rehabilitation of patients, risk assessing, carrying out interventions, following the therapists treatment plan, goal setting, feeding back the clients progress, liaison with the next of kin and implementing support services to discharge the patient.
You will need to be able to think on your feet and have excellent verbal and communication skills. You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The service sees a diverse population of patients, although many of the patients are older people with a range of mental health, cognitive and/or physical conditions with varying levels of existing social support.
We actively encourage professional development and have regular in house training and a supervision support system in place.
The Admission Avoidance Service is an extended hours and 7 day service. The Clinical Support Worker role is currently operating Monday to Friday.
