The ENT team at the RD&E are modernising their workforce to meet current and future challenges and to provide a new career pathway for non-medical practitioners through the introduction of Advanced Clinical Practitioners. This is a unique opportunity for highly motivated and suitably experienced practitioners to join our Specialist Ear, Nose and Throat team as Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
This role will develop high level critical thinking and decision making skills, and work towards performing at an advanced level. This role will develop over time in response to changes in service delivery and we are therefore looking for practitioners who are energetic, eager to develop and are forward thinking with the potential to adapt to change and meet new challenges. In return we will support you at every level to enable you to develop your new role.
To support the development of these roles the training programme will be in partnership with the University of the West of England. All trainees will be supported to undertake an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice over three years and will work under the direction of our clinicians and the wider multidisciplinary team to achieve the ACP work based competencies. On successful completion of the programme and a period of consultation, the post will be subject to job re-banding.
The post holder will act as an expert clinical resource, facilitate pathways and formulate a suitable plan of care for the patient seen on the ward, in clinic or via an emergency referral pathway.
While working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, you will be the first point of contact for emergencies at night for ENT patients as an independent, autonomous advanced practitioner, holding the speciality bleep and receiving urgent referrals from the community. You will respond to referral requests from within the hospital including review of patients in ED, provide and co-ordinate treatment and follow up for inpatients following ward rounds, assist the ENT team and on-call team when performing minor ENT procedures in theatres or within the emergency department, lead in the development of care pathways within the speciality, provide clear professional leadership as an effective role model and play a key role in planning for patient treatment and discharge of ENT patients
We are looking for individuals who have post qualification experience in ENT and have the drive, ambition and positivity to make this role succeed. Applications from ACP's that have attained their Masters qualification are welcome to apply.
