Are you a registered nurse looking for on-going opportunities to develop your clinical skills, role and knowledge?

An opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join our dynamic and proactive satellite dialysis team at South Devon Satellite Kidney Unit (SDSKU).

As part of the Renal Service of the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E), SDSKU is a 24 bedded, nurse-led outpatient facility offering haemodialysis to patients with End Stage Kidney Disease. The unit is managed by a friendly, supportive team consisting of nursing staff, support staff & ward clerks as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team who are often in attendance for outpatient clinics. We are based on the outskirts of Torbay but maintain close links with the RD&E & Torbay Hospital.

Continuously developing the roles our nursing team undertake, our wider renal service at the RD&E has a dynamic acute ward where there are opportunities to learn a diverse range of skills. We also have a range of nurse led specialist services for transplantation, vascular access, anaemia and community roles.

Demonstrating an enthusiasm for haemodialysis, you will bring to the role many transferable skills such as clinical leadership and excellent communication skills. We will guide you along a career pathway that could lead to a Band 6 role, and onwards to become a Sister/Charge Nurse, Matron, a non-medical prescriber, research nurse or even Senior Nurse. For the academically interested, we will encourage you to apply for our fully funded, degree level renal care course or a master’s degree level post-graduate certificate with the support from our dedicated clinical practice facilitators and wider multi-disciplinary team.

We are always engaged in audit and research to ensure that we are delivering excellent, evidence-based care. You can apply to work at the South Devon Satellite Kidney unit with an opportunity to spend some time across our renal service learning to care for renal patients in a variety of settings. We will do all we can to offer you the opportunity to gain appropriate experience and training that is right for you.

If you would like an informal conversation or to visit SDSKU, please contact Lisa Tooby – Matron on 01392 405872 or Michaela Dicks - Senior Nurse on 07527336050
