An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, energetic, enthusiastic and highly motivated Bioinformatician to join a rapidly-expanding team and lead on the development and future direction of the genomic testing services offered by the department. The successful candidate will have proven experience of working with genomic data. They will be committed to patient-centred provision of the highest quality of bioinformatic data analysis, manipulation and management to ensure that patient results are delivered in a safe, efficient and innovative way. The post-holder will have excellent communication skills to ensure effective team-working and training of clinical, scientific and technical grades of staff and students.
The Genomic Laboratory at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is at the forefront of NHS Genomic Medicine, providing state-of-the-art diagnostic testing that utilises specialist gene panel, exome and genome analyses to make diagnoses for the benefit of families with rare diseases across the UK and beyond. The Exeter and Bristol Genetics/Genomics Laboratories are working in partnership as the South West Genomic Laboratory Hub, with the Exeter Laboratory focused on specialist endocrine services and exome/genome analysis. Rapid translation of research findings to diagnostic services is facilitated by sharing purpose-built accommodation with the University of Exeter Medical School Genomics teams.
