Band 7 Clinical Research Nurse
Supporting Diabetes Centre of Excellence
Following a recent major award, our Diabetes Centre of Excellence is expanding substantially. We are looking to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic, clinically astute and motivated Band 7 Senior Clinical Research Nurse who is excited by the opportunity to apply their nursing and clinical research expertise in novel approaches to investigate diabetes. The post holder will undertake and support a number of new and novel research studies which will draw on our expertise in genomics, molecular biology and cell biology, physiology and cutting-edge innovation in technology.
Diabetes affects 400 million people worldwide and consumes 10% of the NHS budget. Diabetes research in Exeter has made transformational changes in the understanding of causes, immune subtypes, complications of diabetes and the treatment of specific subtypes; many of these have changed not only scientific thinking but also patient care throughout the world.
Whilst the post holder will be primarily based on the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Trust site, they will work closely with colleagues based across the RD&E and the University of Exeter Medical School. The University of Exeter Medical School is renowned for its world leading diabetes research.
The post holder will play a key part in the management of the research studies and care provided to patients and healthy volunteers participating in clinical studies related to diabetes.The successful candidate will demonstrate a broad range of clinical and research experience and skills. They will demonstrate that they can interact with senior academics and advocate for the health and well-being of participants thus contributing to the expanding knowledge base of diabetes and improving treatment and outcomes for patients with diabetes.
Prospective candidates are actively encouraged to come to the Centre for an informal visit and discussion about the role. This will give a better insight into the work of the Clinical Research Facility and the role that is being appointed to.
