CONSULTANT IN NEUROLOGY

Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Consultant in Neurology.

Closing Date 14th April 2019

The RD&E, North Devon District Hospital and Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are working together in an innovative way to provide high quality neurological services for the populations of North, East & South Devon.

The successful candidate will be employed by the RD&E joining the Trust’s Neurosciences Department that currently hosts a comprehensive consultant-led neurology, neurophysiology and neuro-rehabilitation service whilst working across organisations contributing to the delivery of high quality in and out-patient services across Exeter, North, East, Mid and South Devon in both acute and community settings as part of the Neurology Service Delivery Network. Within the neurology service, a full range of sub-specialty clinics are provided, and whilst this post is predominantly in general neurology, the Trusts are keen to support development of sub-specialty areas wherever possible.

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is a first-wave Foundation Trust that provides acute and specialist services to a local population of 460,000 people from NHS Devon and tertiary services to a larger population of patients within the South West. Further information on the Trust can be obtained from our website.

The historic cathedral city of Exeter is situated in the middle of the South West Region with easy access to the very popular countryside of Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks and the extensive coastline of Devon and Cornwall. It is well served by rail, road and with daily air links to the London and Manchester as well as internationally.

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust has recently become one of the first vertically-integrated health and care organisations in the country. The ICO allows us to radically re-think and re-shape the way we deliver care, free from traditional organisational constraints. We will develop and redesign services that meet the needs of our local population and that are coordinated and integrated in ways that benefit service users. The Trust serves a population across a wide geographical area of South Devon stretching from the Coastal towns of Torquay, Paignton & Brixham to the edges of Dartmoor.

Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr Joe Gormley, Clinical Lead in Neurology RD&E, on 01392 406258 or kevin.gormley@nhs.net for further discussions and Dr Will Knight, Clinical Lead for Neurology at Torbay williamknight@nhs.net 01803 654936. An information pack including details of whom to contact for further information can be obtained via our website, NHS jobs.
