We are seeking to recruit a Band 3 Higher Clinical support workers (30 hours/week) to join our teams based in Ottery St Mary and Axminster hospitals. The Rowan & Linden and Conybeare & Willow Day Centres provide day care for people who have dementia and other cognitive changes that may affect their lives.

We focus on providing social interaction through a range of activities which include baking, gardening, board games and quizzes. As a Higher Clinical Support Worker you will be expected to run these activities and provide support to those who attend the service.

The HCSW team are also actively involved in the assessment of people’s cognitive, emotional and physical needs both within the centres, but also in their own homes. There will be some clinical input including assistance with continence needs and assisting with safe mobilising around the centre- or outside when we go on trips/walks with the people who use our service.

You will need to have enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and the ability to meet a variety of needs in a day service setting. Experience in a care setting is essential as is knowledge and experience for caring for those with dementia. We will provide supervision and professional development.

The post is 30 hours per week across a rota of Tuesday to Friday working and the post holder will be expected to cover both centres so the ability to travel is essential.

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
