Are you an experienced safeguarding expert looking to lead a dynamic integrated safeguarding team? If so, the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust has the post for you. The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) provides Acute and Community services across Exeter and East Devon serving a population of more than 450,000 people. In our latest CQC full inspection of our services, the RD&E received an overall rating of “good”. The Trust has been ranked as the joint best performing non-specialist Trust in the country for overall patient experience of care in the 2016 Care Quality Commission (CQC) Adult Inpatient Survey.

We are looking to recruit a Head of Safeguarding incorporating the responsibilities for the named professional role for child and adult safeguarding, Prevent and MCA/DoLS lead. You will be supporting the Chief Nurse/Deputy Chief Executive in the implementation and delivery of the safeguarding strategy and further developing a culture which encourages high quality practice, knowledge and learning at all levels, evidencing sustainable improvement in the safeguarding of adults and children.

You will work closely with the named doctors and midwife, and line manage a team of safeguarding nurse/midwife specialists.You will be expected to have a clear understanding of the local and national safeguarding agenda. You will ensure that RD&E is compliant with statutory safeguarding responsibilities and meets regulatory compliance with CQC Regulation 13: Safeguarding service users from abuse and improper treatment. You will be an expert in prevent, domestic abuse and MCA/DoLS and the Trust lead in these areas.

This role will provide strategic and expert advice on system safeguarding issues working closely with our multi-agency partners including the Local Authority, Police, Devon Safeguarding Adults Board, Devon Children and Families Partnership and Safer Devon Partnership.
