An exciting new job opportunity has arisen within the Orthopaedic & Trauma Nurse Practitioner team at the RD&E. We are keen to expand this small unit and are seeking to recruit innovative, highly motivated enthusiastic nurse practitioners, who have the ability to support our current drive to improve the efficiencies within this busy unit by using sound clinical knowledge and judgment. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills, a comprehensive knowledge of nursing within the acute trauma and orthopaedic setting and hold an MSC in Advanced Healthcare Practice MSC or health related subject or equivalent academic experience.

As part of this team, you will be required to work autonomously at an advanced level in the delivery of high quality, safe and supportive care to patients. This is a varied and exciting role based within the elective orthopaedic wards, Emergency Department, Fracture Clinic and on the Trauma Wards working alongside the orthopaedic ward and on-call teams supporting both the junior doctors and nursing teams. As a qualified practitioner you will be expected to undertake clinical patient assessments, ordering and reviewing investigations and developing appropriate treatment plans after consultation with the on-call team. The role also includes coordinating the daily trauma meeting and trauma theatre list, leading the fractured neck of femur pathway, undertaking post-operative ward rounds, liaising with the multi-disciplinary teams and patient transfer co-ordination from other hospitals.

The post holder will be a registered nurse and is required to work autonomously at an advanced level. They will have an MSC in Advanced Health Care Practice or equivalent including health assessment and clinical examination; require good clinical decision making skills and a commitment to on-going learning
