Specialist BMS/Trainee Dissection Practitioner in Histology

Applications are invited from HCPC Registered, experienced BMS for this newly created position. The Cellular Pathology laboratory is accredited in accordance with the recognised International Standard ISO 15189:2012 and participates in all relevant External Quality Assurance Schemes. The laboratory is accredited for the training of Medical and Scientific staff and is now looking to further develop its BMS-led specimen dissection service. The laboratory is fully computerised and the repertoire includes a full range of adult cancer site investigations including breast, dermatology, gastrointestinal, genitourinary gynaecology, respiratory, endocrine and renal Pathology. There is also a modern, busy immunohistochemistry section.Experience in specimen dissection is essential and the successful candidate will be expected to expand their knowledge in this field and work towards the Diploma of Practice in Histological Dissection. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and highly self-motivated with proven technical and communication skills and a record of working to ISO15189 standards. They will also have a commitment to CPD, health and safety and familiarity with clinical governance and audit.
