We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our established Urgent Community Response team within the Crediton, Moretonhampstead and Okehampton Cluster in beautiful Mid Devon.The post is a substantive full time band 6 vacancy based in Okehampton,although the post holder will be occasionally expected to work across the Cluster according to service need. The successful candidate will be provided with regular supervision and training from our Occupational Therapy Team Lead and will have the opportunity to take part in our peer support group. There are also many opportunities to attend in-service training provided by our experienced team and The Royal Devon and Exeter Healthcare Trust. The post holder will be expected to provide assessments and therapy for patients on the Urgent Community Response pathway, which aims to prevent hospital admission and facilitate hospital discharge. Part of the role is to provide home assessments for patients on the Discharge to Assess pathway. The successful candidate will need be able to work with patients who have an acute illness, those requiring rehabilitation and those at the end of life. The OT will be part of a multidisciplinary team comprising of 2 Community Matrons, 2 OTs (plus the vacancy), 12 Support workers, and social care staff, with support from the local GPs and a Patch Geriatrician. You would be lone-working in a very beautiful and rural part of Devon. This means that you will be able to work as an autonomous practitioner and it is essential that you are able to travel to meet the needs of the role. There will be the opportunity to supervise more junior staff, have students and provide training to the team when appropriate. The post holder will be working with Managers and Therapy Leads to develop the service in line with patient need and trust wide developments.
